GEO

Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the practice of making your brand and content show up in answers from AI systems such as Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. It builds on SEO, because most of these systems retrieve web pages before they write an answer, but it adds new questions: which sources get cited, how to measure visibility when there is no click, and how AI crawlers access your site. This hub covers what is known about how AI search works, content and technical changes that make pages easier to quote, tools that track brand mentions in AI answers, and the robots.txt and llms.txt choices for AI crawlers. The field is young and many claims online are untested, so articles separate documented behavior from informed guesses and link to primary sources. Start with the guides below, or filter by subject.

AI search engine optimization is the work of making your content easy for AI search systems such as Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT search and Perplexity to find, trust and cite. In practice it rests on solid SEO, open access for each platform's search crawler and content with first-hand expertise that others cannot copy.

AI Visibility Tools: How to Track Your Brand in AI Answers

AI visibility tools run a set of prompts through AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then report how often your brand is mentioned or cited compared with competitors. They show trends, not exact truth, so pair them with the free first-party reports from Google and Bing.
